Avocados are becoming more and more popular among people interested in healthy nutrition. There are many types of avocados, with different shapes and colors, from green to black, and can weigh between 250 grams and 1.5 kilos.

The most common are the pear shaped avocados, extremely rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as vitamins K, C, B5, B6, E, A, B1, B2, B3, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, manganese. Avocado does not contain cholesterol or sodium and has low fat intake.

Potassium is an essential nutrient that many of us do not get enough from food. 100 grams of avocados contain 14% potassium, more than bananas, which only contain 10% potassium.

Several studies have shown that high potassium levels in the body reduce blood pressure, so it is an important ally in preventing or fighting heart disease, stroke, and serious illnesses that cause kidney disease.

Great for a healthy heart

Avocados have a high fat content. More precisely, 77% of the calories found in avocados are fats. They also contain monounsaturated fatty acids, which are known to have positive effects in fighting against cancer. Also, the oleic acid in avocados is extremely healthy fat for the heart, which is why many doctors recommend it.

They improve digestion

Fibers are important for a healthy digestion and to prevent gaining extra pounds, as they help maintain a balanced weight.

100 grams of avocados contain 7 grams of fiber, which is 27% of the daily dose our body needs.

An US conducted study on 17,000 people showed that those who consume avocados were at a much lower risk of getting sick, had much higher amounts of healthy nutrients, and their metabolism worked much better.

Avocados can help you lose weight

There is evidence on the fact that avocados can help you lose extra kilograms, which is it’s one of the most recommended foods in many diets. In one study, people were divided into two groups. The first consumed avocados, the others did not. After lunch, they were asked questions about their satiety status, more specifically if they still feel hungry. Those who received avocados felt more satiated, and only 28% of them felt the desire to eat in the next 5 hours.

In addition, avocados are rich in fiber, absolutely necessary in diets, helping you to lose weight easier.

At the same time, avocados are also a rich source of antioxidants, containing two very important substances that can greatly improve eye health – lutein and zeaxanthin, which drastically decrease the risk of developing cataracts.
