Good Practices For A Healthy Colon

Let’s face it, there’s no other way around: you need to have a clean and healthy colon, in order to digest nutrients and get rid of food waste. However, many people neglect this, and don’t realize that their colon is filled with toxic food waste. This can generate a multitude of intestinal problems and even chronic illnesses.

Although some people go to the toilet regularly, once a day, it’s not a surprise that some of them carry left overs in their colon, from food that they ingested even a week before. A damaged colon can carry up to 5 pounds of food waste. This creates a favorable environment for the development of unfriendly bacteria and can cause problems such as headaches, flatulence, indigestion, colitis and possibly even colon cancer.

Let’s have a look at some simple steps for a healthy colon!

Respond rapidly to the call of nature.

Try to have a routine and visit the toilet in the morning, when you wake up. Throughout the night, intestinal movements were active at the bacterial level and inactive at the metabolic level, so this ritual is extremely important.

When you sit down on the toilet, put a chair or a box under both feet, high enough to bring you to a squat position.

This position (used in Turkish toilets) is the natural position in which elimination is encouraged. Modern toilets design has contributed to countless cases of constipation.

Movement.

Exercise prevents weakness of the abdominal muscles. The movement brings oxygen-rich blood to the intestines, which provides health and vitality to the cells. Exercise also stimulates peristaltic movements (but do not exercise right after eating, because digestion requires a lot of energy).

Enemas.

Besides these three simple steps above, enemas help the colon regain its tone and strength. They are especially useful in the first few weeks when you’ve decided to change your diet, when waste and toxins are sent to the colon from all around the body, in order to be removed.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Some cases require a more complex method. Colon hydrotherapy is a kind of enema during which water is introduced continuously throughout the colon by a professional. As the water is introduced, it begins to slowly wash away the deposits which are then eliminated through a glass tube.

This is a more expensive method, but it is done under the close supervision of a specialized person. Colon hydrotherapy has the advantage of acting on the full length of the colon, reaching just below the appendix, where many of these residues are usually located. In fact, many appendix complications arise from these toxic accumulations.

Specialists recommend at least 3 colon hydrotherapy procedures per year. There are people who have eliminated through this process foods that they consumed even ten years ago, so this procedure is very important.

Proper alimentation

Unfortunately, all the colon enema and colon cleansing in the world cannot get rid of the main cause of colon-related disorders: unhealthy food choices. Once you have decided to implement the above steps, you must also automatically change your eating style. Try to reduce as much as you can processed and fiber-free foods (white sugar, white flour, pastries, meat, dairy products, juices, alcoholic beverages, tobacco) and consume more vitamins, minerals and fibers, as fresh and less altered as possible. And remember, the colon is the main drainage channel of the body — which is why we must take proper care of it.
