Holidays bring us goodies that we do not enjoy very often during the year, most of them with a high degree of satiety and calories to measure. Thus, the delight of traditional dishes, combined with the joy of meeting with loved ones and the state together at the table, as well as the lack of movement, can lead to unpleasant digestive consequences. The most common condition of the winter holidays is indigestion, which we usually try to counteract with digestive pills. However, there are natural methods that we can use, the most convenient being the teas.


Peppermint tea

It is little known that peppermint tea, in addition to the pleasant menthol taste, is rich in vitamins A and C, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. Peppermint also contains antioxidants that protect the body’s cells from oxidative stress.


In addition, peppermint tea is an excellent solution for indigestion, bloating and stomach discomfort. The main active ingredient of menthol is menthol, which has antispasmodic effect, that is, it relaxes the stomach muscles and ensures the proper functioning of the biliary flow.


In winter we are prone to the flu and colds, and peppermint tea can help us in this regard. Menthol also acts as an antifungal agent, relieving symptoms of runny nose and sore throat, and soothing productive cough.


Peppermint does not contain tea, a specific component of black tea, which gives us energy, so it can be consumed at any time of the day. Peppermint tea can be left to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on taste. Up to 3 cups of tea per day can be consumed.


Ginger tea

Ginger is an extremely complex natural remedy, mainly used in Ayurvedic medicine for various conditions, and has antioxidant, antibacterial, antispasmodic and diuretic properties.

Ginger tea can be an extremely useful remedy in indigestion, as it has an energizing effect and provides digestive support. It is also used successfully in weight loss belts.


An infusion time of 3 to 5 minutes is required for the preparation of ginger tea. Left more, it becomes more concentrated, and the plant-specific tenderness will feel stronger. Also, it is not advisable to consume more than 3 cups per day, as ginger has a purgative effect and can cause discomfort.


Artichoke tea

Artichoke is a natural remedy for bile conditions, situations that many of us face during the holidays. Artichoke tea can help us with this, as it stimulates the pancreatic and intestinal secretions and improves the biliary flow, but its properties are manifold. Thus, a cup of artichoke tea acts as antispasmodic intestinal, diuretic and antibacterial, being recommended in cases of indigestion, intestinal gas, nausea and / or vomiting or abdominal discomfort.


The artichoke tea is left to infuse for about 20 minutes and is preferably drunk on an empty stomach, or 30 minutes before the meal. I could drink up to 3 cups of artichoke tea per day. Exceeding the limit may cause adverse effects, such as diarrhea or nausea. Artichoke tea is not recommended for pregnant women.
