Brilliant benefits of beeswax

Beeswax has been considered to be a magical cure for many affections since ancient times. In modern Spain, some cave pavings were found, depicting men collecting honey from a bee hive — dating back around 8,000 years. Used externally, beeswax has an anti-inflammatory effect and is useful in treating skin, nail and hair problems.

Supporting skin health

Compared to moisturizing creams and body lotions that contain chemicals, beeswax contains vitamin A and provides long-term hydration. Wax masks are ideal to combat skin problems. The effects of acne can be combated with a simple mask made from a teaspoon of warm wax, ½ teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of propolis. Apply the mask on your face and let it act for about 15 minutes. For delicate skin, you can make a mask from a heated teaspoon of wax, half a teaspoon of honey, 1 yolk, 1 teaspoon of glycerin and 1 teaspoon of green tea. In this case, apply and let the mask act for 20 minutes.

Treating eczema and scars

Inflammatory skin disease, also called eczema, is manifested by itching and redness on the skin — which be combated with beeswax. Melt 7g of wax in a double boiler, add 25 drops of essential rose oil and 20 g of ground almonds. After the wax melts, gently squeeze the mixture. Keep it in an opaque container to apply it to affected areas.

Because of the anti-inflammatory properties of beeswax, it can also be useful in treating superficial wounds and fading scars. Obtain a mixture from a teaspoon of beeswax, heated on a double boiler, and 10 ml of almond oil. Squeeze the liquid and pour it into a glass jar. The mixture should then be applied on the wounded or scarred areas.

Treating nail conditions

If your nails lose their healthy appearance, they might become fragile, get a yellowish color, and easily peel off. These symptoms may indicate a thyroid disorder, or iron, vitamin A or calcium deficiency. To find out the exact cause, it is best to visit a doctor. However, for the aesthetic part of the situation, beeswax can help. Obtain a cream from 2 teaspoons of heated beeswax, 10 g of beer yeast, 2 teaspoons of olive oil and 10 drops of vitamin A. Apply the cream over your nails before going to sleep, and wear a pair of gloves throughout the night. Repeat the process for a period of 14 days.

Regenerating degraded hair

After the cold season, you may notice that your hair may have lost its vitality, it breaks off easily, or it’s getting dry. A simple beeswax hair mask, applied at least once a week for one hour, can give it back its shine in no time. To hydrate dry hair, apply a mask made from a teaspoon of beeswax melted with 2 yolks, 50 ml of water and 2 teaspoons of honey.

Beeswax can cure dandruff

Many people have problems with hair loss and dandruff. Beeswax, along with honey and herbal tea, can be of great help, if applied to the scalp and hair. Mix 30 grams of burdock root with 70 grams of nettle leaves. Add in 2 tablespoons of this mixture to 500ml of boiled water. Leave it infused, then mix the infusion with half a teaspoon of beeswax and 2 tablespoons of honey.
