Keeping Snacks Cravings In Between Meals Under Control

No matter whether you’re on a diet or not, feeling hungry in between meals is something we all have in common, especially between lunch and dinner, when the craving for all sorts of unhealthy foods is so tempting!

Did you know that most of the extra kilograms add up due to the hypercaloric foods we eat between meals?

The snacks that we should avoid the most throughout the day are the ones that have “fake” calories – meaning little to no nutritional value, only lots of sugar, flour or fats.

How can you satisfy your cravings without getting fat?

  1. Always keep nuts and fruits with you.

Combining nuts and fruits is not only very nutritional, but also very healthy and it tastes delicious! To make sure you won’t go for that chocolate bar when you feel hungry, always keep inside your bags 2-3 fruits and a small bag of seeds or nuts, almonds, pistachio, caju.

  1. Eat a cereal yoghurt

Yoghurt by itself is definitely not enough to satisfy your hunger, but if you mix it in with cereals or fruits you’ll be getting a healthy snack, guaranteed to get you through to the next meal. This will allow your mind to stay clear from unhealthy thoughts like fast foods.

  1. Drink a glass of milk mixed with cornflakes

Another quick recipe for a good snack to help you get rid of your sugar cravings is a drink of milk with cornflakes. If you are, somehow, intolerant to lactose, you should choose soy or almond milk instead.

  1. Make some quick servings of cucumber and salmon.

Get some cucumber slices, add some cheese and small bits of salmon. If you’re feeling very hungry, you can use whole wheat toast instead of cucumber. Salmon is considered a great source of “good” fats, that will not add up. These salmon bites are our favorite go-to recipe for our snack needs.

  1. Boil an egg

A boiled egg and a slice of whole wheat bread is a very good snack idea. We recommend this one especially to those of you who go to the gym – you can consume it before heading down to exercise, it will give you some extra energy!

  1. Avocado and cheese bruschetta

As you all know, avocados are full of good, healthy fats, so make sure you include them on your meal list! Get a toast, add some avocado on it, add just a tiny bit of olive oil and finally a few cherry tomato slices and small cheese bites. We guarantee you’ll love this one.

  1. Feeling extremely hungry? Grab yourself a tuna corn salad!

If you haven’t eaten enough on your lunch and feel very hungry, you can have a tuna and sweet corn salad as your snack. It’s very saturating and easy to make. Tuna is very popular amongst many diets because it can be helpful in weight loss, apart from having many positive benefits on your health. It is known to prevent certain cardiovascular conditions and boost your immunity system, some claiming that it even prevents various types of cancer.

You shouldn’t feel bad about yourself if you get crazy food cravings between meals. Surely, if you’re trying to lose weight, it is recommended to have as few of these as possible. But if you feel very hungry, it is not recommended to starve yourself – not only will this affect your diet, but it is also very unhealthy.

Simply keep in mind that when you get hungry for a snack, you should avoid meals with lots of calories, and at all costs, avoid fast food. Don’t eat too much, just grab a quick healthy snack to help you get through to the next meal without feeling sick or having a headache.
