Nowadays, ice cube treatments (also called “Skin Icing”) are gaining more and more popularity, together with the success that cryotherapy is seeing. Since it’s not possible to try cryotherapy at the comfort of your home, and even in professional salons it might be very pricey, playing around with ice cubes is a healthy and cost-effective alternative to trying these modern treatments.

If you want to continue having a light and healthy facial skin even after the age of 35, you should consider starting ice facial treatments. Even if you already have some wrinkles, this trick can provide you with some amazing results, and they are a great alternative to Botox injections or the very expensive salon treatments. In the end, who doesn’t have some ice around their homes?!

Here are only a few benefits of skin icing:

  • Preventing and stopping wrinkles

Perhaps one of the most important assets this treatment has to offer, it works because ice tends to give skin a smooth aspect, since it keeps the blood moving and your facial muscles start to relax. After all, wrinkles are a result of tense muscles, and if your skin isn’t as elastic and hydrated as it should be, they start showing up.

  • Facial lifting effect

Since blood circulation is stimulated, your skin starts to lift exactly in the areas where it has become naturally loose, giving you a young and healthy look.

  • Helping you get rid of dark circles around your eyes

Usually, we tend to get dark circles around our eyes as a result of water retention, being tired, and of course, the lack of sleep. Ice cubes can help you get rid of this tired look; in just a few minutes your face will look so fresh you won’t believe it!

  • Making your skin smoother

One of the effects that I personally consider to be the most amazing, is that applying ice on your skin will make tighten it, shrink your pores, and make your face extremely smooth and pleasant to touch!

  • Improving your blood circulation

As soon as you remove the ice from your skin, the body will naturally start sending fresh blood to that area, to make it warm. This stabilizes blood circulation levels and it will make your skin breathe more, assisting in the regeneration of your skin cells.

  • Giving you a clear skin

If you’re suffering from acne or have a few pimples on your face, skin icing can also help you. It won’t instantly remove each of these pimples, but applying ice will reduce inflammation as much as possible and eventually, will assist you minimize the effects of these conditions.

Skin icing in 6 easy steps

  1. Cleanse your skin very well before starting the treatment. You shouldn’t have any makeup left, because it can get in the way of the process.
  2. Get 1-2 ice cubes from the fridge and wrap them in a small piece of cloth, preferably cotton.
  3. As soon as you see the cloth getting a bit wet, it means that the ice cubes are ready to be used. It is not recommended to apply them on your face immediately after you get the out of the freezer – hence why they need to start melting.
  4. Gently massage your face with the ice cubes for 1-2 minutes; you might need additional ice cubes, use as many as you have to. It is recommended to start from your chin and jawline, then the cheeks, forehead and nose, and eventually, the eyes.
  5. The massaging must be done in a circular motion. Make sure you don’t aggressively apply too much pressure on your skin.
  6. As soon as you are done with the treatment, apply a hydrating cream on your skin.

We’ve personally seen this method give great results to many people. Ice treatments are beginning to be more popular than ever, and for a good reason. But don’t take our word for granted, try it for yourself and see!
